Alternative media is more balanced

There were two news items in the alternative media which are really worth noticing:

One concerns a human interest story about retracing the historic silk route on foot

Another one is about the APMC Act which would have a real long term implication for the farmers of India.

In the same vein, it is worth recalling the sedate coverage of Nitish Kumar's visit to IIM A compared to the hyped visit of Lalu Yadav. The print media gave a coverage, but it was absent in the television news channels!! The event to which Nitish was invited is much bigger, and the impact was also much more substantive. Then what are the parameters on which the media moguls decide newsworthiness?

Thank god for the alternative media, at least we are able to get coverage of important news. Would the mass media, busy reporting Bachchan's puja with Ash in Varanasi and Hritik's lip lock, ever find time to publish these? What does junta say?

Our media is biased no doubt about it. For them spicy news is more important than something which makes sense for the country or a state. I guess it is also because the general public (atleast a majority of it) takes great interest in celebrity life.
