Snatching defeat from victory

Look at this news item in Times of India: An IIT cannot clean up Bihar. Even before the celebrations have died down for having won an IIT in Bihar after sixty years of struggle, daggers are drawn to pull down the good news. Did anybody imply that the IIT by itself will clean up Bihar?

Gives the feeling the arrogant journalist and his journal cannot see any good coming Bihar way. First criticise Biharis for migrating because of lack of development there, and when even a small step is taken towards development, try to block that by creating negative environment around it. Particularly poor in taste is the reference to the unfortunate murder of Papiya Ghosh, for there has been no evidence at all whatsoever that she was murdered because of her beliefs. What does the junta say?

hi, the author of the mentioned editorial in TOI is Amrik Srinivasan, Sociologist, IIT Delhi. She had also written an editorial on similar lines just following the death of Papiya commenting on class characteristics of Biharis outside Bihar, commenting sharply on the UPSC sloggers of JNU hostel and migrant Bihari labour. Understandably she has enough reasons to behave in such hystrionic way: Papiya was her close friend. Madam, but we are also unhappy about the death Papiya Ghosh and I personally look forward to Biharis like papiya ghosh who went back to contribute something to her home state and not their friends who unknowingly offed the departed one by commenting sharply on their community. Get some brains before you read Marx and Freud dear miss sociologist 2007.
